Recycling: Yes we recycle. Should be getting posters soon from Recology. Everything can go in the blue bins. Your site administrator can set up a time with Recology to come in and set up an entire system (Henry Ford).

Severe Behaviors: Garfield may pilot a Restorative Justice model.

  • More PD refreshers on what is already in place. No new models/programs each year.

  • Get new hires up to speed.

Next Climate Meeting:

  • Can we speak on the administrative role in discipline and behaviors. There is inconsistency across sites, and administration is placing a burden on teachers and administrators who do not seem to be held accountable for their negligence in handling these extreme behaviors. It also seems that some admin are unaware of district policies, or options available. Site handbooks are not being provided at all sites making discipline policies inconsistent and unclear across sites. Admin should be versed in the teacher contract language to ensure teachers rights are being respected.

  • Observations and Evaluations: Administration is scoring low evals for teachers who have received lower evaluation scores in the past. Teachers can write a rebuttal on evaluation, or request an additional evaluation from another evaluator. Teachers who have received “mature practice” scores in the past have been receiving lower scores in their recent evaluations.

Independent Studies: It doesn’t look like the state is going to fund this program next year and RCSD is not interested in continuing the program. However, the state has not been completely clear about this yet.
