Treasurer's Report-Steve Murray

In our account (RCTA)

  • 66,000 Checking

  • 50,000 Savings

  • RCTA President $37,000 bill from RCSD, which will come from savings.

Current Data: According to CTA360- 329 Active RCTA Members

  • We may need to raise dues for members after 2021-2022 school year, if we would like to continue funding presidents .25 salary for union work

    • To cover the whole salary member dues would have to raise an additional $115 making our dues jump to $285

      • CTA is already asking us to bump our dues up to $205 for arbitration access through CTA

      • Grants through CTA can cover part of the president’s .25 salary schedule, but RCTA can’t afford a .5 salary schedule

      • If we get the grant, it could raise dues $65 for members

*Is there a way to organize a “fundraising” committee, to try to fundraise to eliminate the need to raise dues (or drastically raise dues) to try to help our teachers out!

6. Announcements

  • Quarantine Lesson Plans: 10 day-Async lesson plans: Principals should have given staff time to organize packets for async, using the pre-made lessons from staff development team.

    • Families are taking leaves for COVID, some sites have not given time to organize the premade packets.

      • School Admin should be given planning time with teams to choose the materials from the premade options, during a staff meeting.

      • Erinn will reach out to Wendy Kelly to ensure admins are communicated with about providing this time for teachers on all sites.

  • Teachers out sick, sites have asked for emergency sub plans

    • Taft asked for 5 days, some sites have one day, or three day plans

  • COVID Cases and Communications: The district is still responsible for tracking and tracing. RCSD is responsible for sending out communications to close contacts and to entire sites with a positive case. All COVID cases reported to you, need to be reported to the office on sites, so they can ensure RCSD can follow tracking and tracing protocols, already in place.

    • Parents can sign students up for testing. Is there a way to get paper copies for these testing communications to families that do not have access to or do not check emails?

Available Leaves for certificated employees

CTA conference grants if members want to go to a conferences through CTA.

Paper contracts on their way.

7. Member Concerns

- Subs: There are no subs right now. Worse than ever before.

  • Members are being pulled from their work: reading specialists, bilingual reading teachers, etc are being put in classrooms to sub (long and shorter term) without relief. Disrupting teacher morale across the district.

    • RCTA is working on an MOU to raise sub rates to try to recruit bodies to sub for us, right now DO employees who qualify are being sent out to sub and TOSAs and other teachers are being pulled from their posts to sub.

- Parental Pressure on Teachers

- Some sites are feeling like there is a lack of support from administration when

experiencing super aggressive parents, treating teachers poorly, and criticizing students

learning opportunities. Teachers are not always feeling that they are supported by their

administrators, not following through or intervening with student and parent behaviors.
